Teaching Tip

Students like to do games and quizzes. Here is one quiz you can do when you need to practice the Passive Voice.

The Passive Voice Quiz

Students are divided into groups of 3-5. On the board, teacher writes numbers of the questions (1, 2, 3, 4,  …) and draws a grid in which she will write points the groups get for correct answers.
For each correct answer/sentence a group gets 1 point. Students should produce full answers using the Passive Voice.

Group A starts by choosing one of the numbers on the board. Teacher crosses out the number and reads out the question from her list. Students have 20 seconds to think and then answer the question. If they don’t know the answer or if it is incorrect, the other groups may try to get an extra point (on “first come, first served” basis).
Then group B takes its turn and the quiz goes on in the same way. At the end of the game the group with the best score may be given something (sweets, pictures, stickers…) as a prize
